This series of booklets describes the range of species that inhabit this special seashore, the only place in Borneo where the Heart of Borneo rainforest extends uninterrupted from the mountains to the sea.

Read these booklets and be inspired to get on the beach and do some beachcombing, and find out why Brunei is one of the best places in the world for the array of exotic nuts, seeds and shells washed up. Share your visit with the wildlife, the ever present patrols of crabs, migrating birds, and examine the fishermen's catches.

Marvel at the variety of plant life that has adapted to the seashore environment, with their colour and texture and understand the climate: the seasons with their winds, tides and their effects on the beach.

Lastly, find out the effect of man, the dominant species, and the only one that can protect, nurture and conserve this wonderful heritage, or destroy it all.

On the 1st November 2008 the series will be launched, (details still to come), with the first three booklets. These are  printed by  Brunei Press in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, and are being made available to everyone via booksellers at the price of $5.00 each, hopefully making the fascinating story of the seashore species available to nearly everyone, even within reach of children's pocket money! BSP staff will benefit from a special half price offer!

Panaga Natural History Society members have put this together, with Roger McIlroy as the principal author with co-authors Novi Dols, Monique Desvoyes, Claudia Obendrauf and John Elder, and input from Han Raven, and Derek Moore.

Important contributions have come from a wide range of contributors, especially (in alphabetical order) Esther Aberson,  Nazeri Abghani, Andrea Bloem, Hans Dols,  David Lane, Charlie Lee, and very significantly Serena Lee and her colleagues at the Herbarium of the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Thanks to proof readers Wani Abdul-Gapar, Peter Engbers, Mark Tuttle and to Jackie Maskall for editing the entire text: a major contribution.

All proceeds will go to the Heart of Borneo: all of the individuals listed above have provided their time and materials freely for this cause, and none will make any profit except spiritually and socially from these publications.

The sponsorship by Brunei Shell Petroleum for covering the entire printing cost and providing support and materials has been greatly appreciated. BSP has a proud record in environmental awareness and support and this is just one of a series of such supported initiatives.
