164 BSJV Employees Receive Long Service Award

June 5, 2021

Brunei Shell Joint Venture [BSJV] celebrated and honoured the personal and professional accomplishments of 164 long term employees of the BSJV companies. The celebration was held this afternoon at Rizqun International Hotel Gadong.

Leading the event were Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis, Managing Director of Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) and Shell Country Chair in Brunei, Hajah Farida Dato Talib, Managing Director of Brunei LNG (BLNG) and Muhammad Norshafiee Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Managing Director of Brunei Shell Marketing (BSM). Also, in attendance were members of the leadership teams of the respective BSJV Companies.

Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis, in her welcoming remarks highlighted the importance of resilience, care and dedication. She further reminded the audience that even though the situation is better today in-country, we should not forget how we rallied and fought when Brunei was first hit by the pandemic.

“Under the strong leadership of His Majesty The Sultan and His Government, we all played and continue to play our part in Brunei’s fight against COVID-19. Through our combined efforts we have together ensured that Brunei is free from community transmission for over a year. And importantly, through all of it, we have continued to keep the lights on for the country. Each and every one of us should be proud of this,” said Agnete.

She continued on to emphasise that BSJV has come a long way in the area of Bruneianisation and cited that BSJV has more local leaders today that it did decades ago, who are dedicated in their duties, passionate in making a change, and to continue fuelling Brunei.

“And we will continue to ensure there is a pool of young Bruneians that will in the future take on your roles and lead the companies to greater heights. In 2020, we awarded 33 students scholarships through the BSJV Scholarship scheme for them to further their studies. Through world-class developmental opportunities, internationally accredited competency frameworks and on-the-job training, these scholars will have opportunities to grow and shape their careers and ultimately the future of the company.,” she added.

Agnete concluded her speech by congratulating and expressing her gratitude to the recipients and their family for all of their efforts and contribution throughout the years.
