Seria, November 28, 2025 – Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the successful completion of its Flagship Solar PV (photovoltaic) Plant expansion. Located at G11, the new expansion covers over 3-hectare of land at the former housing area. It will deliver an additional 3MWp (Megawatt Peak) of energy capacity, generating approximately 4,500 MWh (Megawatt-hour) of power annually.
With the expansion, the BSP Flagship Solar PV Plant will deliver cumulative 6.3 MWp of Solar PV capacity.
Present as the Guest of Honour at the event was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at The Prime Minister's Office And Minister of Finance and Economy II, and Brunei Shell Joint Venture Deputy Chairman. Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Mohd Hanifah, Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office; Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, Permanent Secretary (Energy) at the Prime Minister's Office; senior officials from the Department of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office; BSP leadership teams as well as business partners.
With over 80,000 construction man-hours spent, the expansion project is a testament to BSP’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions through its everyday operations. The solar expansion will provide a clean source of energy for BSP Head Office, offsetting approximately 3,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions from energy consumption annually.
On a national level, the BSP Flagship Solar PV Plant expansion aspires to contribute to Brunei’s target of achieving at least 30% of renewable energy in the total installed capacity mix by 2035.
