Share Ride Launches in Belait District

September 14, 2020

In an effort to boost public transport accessibility and enhance public mobility within Belait District, a Share Ride pilot project was launched on September 14, to provide access to ondemand transport services. The three-month Share Ride Pilot project is a collaboration between DART (Brunei’s first ride booking app) and Aziz Latif Company (ALC).

This latest milestone hopes to further boost In-Country Value initiatives championed by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn. Bhd. (BSP) for the country through the creation of sustainable business opportunities and new additional employment in Belait District and beyond; whilst providing fresh solution for greater public mobility and accessible public transport for the community in the district.

“Shareride can provide another means of public transportation, which in turn will accommodate the needs and boost the socioeconomic status of the community. Over time, we hope to see more drivers which will also generate more employment opportunities for our locals," says BSP In-Country Value Manager Hjh Rosita Hj Hassan.

The service will now allow any member of the community in the Belait District to book their next car ride for their personal use via the Dart application downloadable via the Apple App store or Google Play store. The public can enjoy a safe and comfortable ride every day from 6 a.m. onwards.

“Safety is our number one priority. The cars are in excellent conditions and the drivers from ALC are well-trained. We rely on our drivers to continue upholding the importance of road safety and set a good example for other drivers ensuring that everyone goes home safely. I encourage everyone to take advantage of this service and support our local entrepreneurs”, says the Deputy Managing Director and Technical Director Yap Kong Fah.

The project will utilise ALC’s fleet of cars along with trained drivers, providing additional support to DART’s existing team. Supported by BSP, the initiative is in line with the company’s In-Country value strategy to help realise Brunei’s Wawasan 2035 by growing sustainable local goods, services and capabilities.
