BSP And BLNG Held A Market Engagement Session With Local IT Companies

November 2, 2020

Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) and Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (BLNG), in collaboration with Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) and LiveWIRE Brunei Sdn Bhd, held a Market Engagement Session today on November 2, 2020 with local Information Technology (IT) companies and start-ups at the DARe iCentre.

The Market Engagement Session hoped to capture hidden talents within the IT industry in order to forge new partnerships with the local IT companies, who had the opportunity to learn more about the oil and gas industry, how to register as potential vendors to BSP and BLNG, how to get involved in the tendering process and the criteria required to be successfully selected. Aside from potential opportunities to partner with BSP and BLNG, various entrepreneurship programmes, bootcamps and masterclasses on offer were presented by DARe and LiveWIRE Brunei for those interested.

The objective of the event was to show BSP and BLNG’s continuous efforts to support the country’s Digital Transformation Master Plan and to contribute further to Brunei’s socio-economic growth.

“In BSP, we utilise digital solutions to address business problems by doing work faster, better and at lower costs. The digital transformation is a key enabler to achieve outstanding and sustained performance, as it allows us to focus on core delivery while reducing repetitive and low value-adding tasks,” shared Hajah Rosita
Haji Hassan, BSP In-Country Value Manager, in her welcoming remarks. “In order to move ahead with the Digitalisation transformation, we need to collaborate together. The Brunei Shell Joint Venture Companies and their Business Partners will have to work hand in hand to develop our capabilities in this area”, she continued.

Also present at the event were Javed Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of DARe, Hajah Sofiah Haji Umar, BSP Digitalisation Manager and officials from Ministry of Energy. More than 10 local IT companies and start-ups, as well students and faculty members from Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Teknologi Brunei and Politeknik Brunei were in attendance.

BSP, BLNG and LiveWIRE Brunei presented their upcoming potential business opportunities in IT and Digitalisation, followed by a networking and sharing session. Microsoft, Ericsson, and Dynamik Technologies also showcased their programmes and offered opportunities in technical mentoring and partnership with the local IT companies and start-ups.
